Meet Cheryl! The Career Coach Across All Industries!

This week we are welcoming Cheryl to the resmrkt advisor family!

Cheryl has extensive training and maintains relationships with employers in order to have the most up-to-date knowledge to guide you. She understands that everyone's goals, strengths, and personalities are unique and uses that framework to help people propel into their future.

We decided to ask Cheryl a few questions to get to know her a bit more.

What made you interested in becoming a career coach?

I've always been a helper. My co-workers also say I'm a "do-er." Those qualities combined make career coaching perfect for me because it is helping people and it is action-oriented. I love helping people gain the confidence and motivation to do more than what they thought was possible.

What is the best way for a job seeker to stand out on a job application?

I don't want a job applicant to be in a virtual stack of nothingness. I want my clients to be a human (not just a piece of paper) who is able to present themselves and their skills; networking transforms you from a piece of paper to a human. If you have to just apply online, then using keywords in the job description is crucial.

What is your favorite resume tip?

An effective resume is a tailored resume!

What should job seekers know about how employers are thinking about their hiring decisions?

If an employer gives you an interview, it's because you meet the qualifications. Your job in the interview is to show them your transferable or "soft" skills: communication, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, etc. Research shows that these are the skills employers really need more of.

What is your favorite personality quiz to recommend for career evaluation?

I'm certified to administer the Myers-Briggs (MBTI). I like the MBTI because it has career ties as well as to your approach to life overall. I'm ISFJ: "The Protector."

Also, this isn't a quiz by any means but I also can learn a ton about people by their response to "What would you do if you found an elephant in your backyard?"

What is a fun fact that we should know about you?

I own a small craft business, and I am a former military spouse!

What is your favorite quote?

"Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure."

We are excited to have Cheryl join the team. If you are a job seeker who is looking for some professional support from someone who has the broad industry knowledge and the insights into what hiring mangers are thinking, then book a session with Cheryl today  https://resmrkt.com/products/cheryl-r
